Why Christian Schools Must Prioritize Cybersecurity

“Our children don’t have credit scores, but they have names and data.” — Mark Zockoll

“Seventy percent of educators have never changed their password.” — Mark Zockoll

Welcome to the Teacher Edition Podcast with host Jenny Copeland. In this episode, Jenny invites Mark Zockoll and Matthew George to share their knowledge on a topic which often gets pushed toward the bottom of the list of things to worry about — cybersecurity within our schools. Despite the misconception that private Christian schools are low-level targets, cybersecurity threats are real and significant. Having awareness and utilizing proactive tools are increasing in importance.

Important Topics Discussed:

  • The importance of digital asset protection in schools
  • Results from a survey on cybersecurity training in Christian schools
  • Practical cybersecurity measures for faculty and staff
  • Affordable tools and strategies to strengthen school cybersecurity

Christian schools are encouraged to be intentional and purposeful about combating digital threats. Cybersecurity is not just for the IT staff, but it is for everyone within the education system. We are the gatekeepers of our students’ data and identities, and we can take steps to ensure our schools remain digitally safe.

“Ignoring cybersecurity can come back to haunt schools. It’s not a matter of if, but when.” — Matt George

Every day in the classroom is YOUR day to impact and inspire through God’s power and grace working in you.

Go do what God has called you to do!
